Out-of-gauge equipment: from inland São Paulo to a break bulk vessel
A large pressure vessel moved by road with special permits and escort, lifted at the port and loaded onto a break bulk vessel bound for North America.
The context
An industrial equipment manufacturer needed to export a pressure vessel that fitted no container, neither by dimensions nor by weight. The move required a route survey, transit authorisations and coordination with the port and the carrier.
What we did
- Road route survey checking bridges, overpasses and turning radii, and the special transit permits obtained from the relevant authorities.
- Transport on a lowbed trailer with escort, within authorised hours.
- Lifting planned at the port with the terminal operator, including a rigging plan and dedicated equipment.
- Space booked on a break bulk vessel, with lashing supervised on board and the bill of lading issued.
Outcome
The equipment was loaded with no damage and within the schedule agreed with the client and the carrier. The client now brings us in at the quotation stage of new projects, so that logistics enters the calculation before the commercial deal is closed.
